Page speed tests every published page on your site with Google's Lighthouse, on mobile and desktop, and shows what would make each page faster. Find it under SEO → Page Speed. It is included on every plan, with the same limits on each.

What gets tested

  • Every published page and blog post on your live site, up to 500 pages. The homepage goes first, then pages in order of traffic. If your site has more than 500 pages, the page list says how many aren't tested.
  • Each page is tested twice: once as a phone and once as a desktop computer.
  • Only the live site is tested. Staging sites and drafts aren't.

When tests run

  • Automatic tests: weekly by default. Change it in Page speed settings to every other week or monthly, on the day, hour, and time zone you choose, or pause it.
  • Retest after publishing: on by default. About 10 minutes after you publish or update a page or post, it is tested again. Turn this off in Page speed settings.
  • Test all pages runs a full test whenever you like, even while automatic tests are paused. To test one page, open it from the list and test it from there.

Results arrive over several minutes as each page finishes.

Reading the results

The page list shows each page's mobile and desktop scores out of 100:

  • Good (90+)
  • Needs work (50-89)
  • Poor (under 50)

Filter by score, page type, or status, search for a page, and sort the list. The median score sums up the whole site.

Open a page to see:

  • Score over time.
  • Measurements: First content, Main content loads, Speed index, Blocking time, Layout shift, and Server response.
  • Real visitors: Google's Chrome UX Report for the last 28 days. When a page has too few visits of its own, the numbers cover your whole site. New or low-traffic sites may have no real-visitor data yet.
  • What would make it faster: the fixes Lighthouse suggests for that page.
  • A link to edit the page or post.

Google's thresholds for the main measurements:

MeasurementGoodPoor
Main content loads (LCP)2.5 s or lessover 4 s
Layout shift (CLS)0.1 or lessover 0.25
Blocking time (TBT)200 ms or lessover 600 ms
Response to taps (INP, real visitors)200 ms or lessover 500 ms

Mobile scores are usually lower than desktop, because the mobile test simulates a mid-range phone on a slower connection.

Using an agent

Lumi, Claude, and ChatGPT can read your page speed results, list the slowest pages and what's slowing them down, and start new tests.
